@Robin, we've integrated RapidInsight with OpenNMS (some info here http://www.slideshare.net/mberkay/rapidinsight-for-opennms) and we're certainly interested in integrating with other F/OSS projects.

RI has a good infrastructure to do these integrations very quickly. I'm looking forward to an opportunity to work on these!

@Berkay Thank you for the comment. I agree that RapidInsight is really a product to look forward to, not only from aforementioned article perspective but also from a perspective of fresh face to the existing systems. Using groovy has provided RI a unique edge from agile implementation perspective.

Have you folks considered integration with F/OSS projects like Cacti, Ganglia, Nagios, WeatherMap, etc? I think that would be an idea worth pursuing.

Hi Robin,

I realize that you're appealing for the IBM products themselves to be improved, but just wanted to mention that there is currently a solution for at least 1 & 3 :)

You already know that RapidInsight (an open source project) does provide an Ajax enabled Web UI for Netcool. It also provides a version of the UI designed for iPhone specifically. We've chosen to develop a web based app for iPhone rather than native app so that the interface can easily be customized, integrated with other mgmt tools etc.
If you'd like the iPhone UI to Netcool, you can go to http://www.ifountain.com/rapidinsight/demo (need an account on the website but I'll also put a screencast soon)
A version of the UI for Blackberry is also in the works..

As for integrated ISM functionality, a lot of the underlying infrastructure is already available, and can be done via scripts. We'd love to get your input on adding ISM like functionality (UI configurable, etc.) to RapidInsight.
